Chaber białawy jest byliną o słabo rozgałęzionych, owłosionych pędach, osiągającą wysokość 50-100 cm. Swoją nazwę zawdzięcza liściom, które od spodu pokryte są białym filcem. El aciano es una planta perenne con brotes pilosos y escasamente ramificados, que alcanza una altura de 50-100 cm. Debe su nombre a sus hojas, que están cubiertas de un fieltro blanco en el envés. El limbo superior es de color verde mate. Las hojas basales son pinnadas, con lóbulos toscamente dentados, y tienen largos pecíolos. Las hojas de los brotes son alargadas y lanceoladas. Sus grandes flores rosadas con una mancha blanca en el centro de la inflorescencia aparecen de junio a agosto y son visitadas con entusiasmo por abejas y mariposas. La Centaurea dealbata es una planta valiosa para borduras, jardines naturalistas y como flor cortada, y crece bien plantada en prados de flores. La planta prefiere suelos bien drenados y ricos en calcio. Prospera en lugares secos y soleados.
